If you’ve been exploring the benefits on offer from installing Origin slimline windows, don’t forget about their range of doors too. Traditional patio doors can often look tired and outdated, so replacing them is a great way to transform the appearance of the rear of your property while achieving excellent views of your garden. Two of Origin’s sliding doors are OS-44 and OS-77 designs, but what are the differences between them?

Why Choose Origin Sliders?

While Origin also produces a stunning collection of bifolds, sliding doors are more appropriate for those looking to maximise views when the doors are closed. They also save space, with the sliders remaining in line with the door tracks. A ‘more glass, less frame’ ethos is why these products are so popular with property owners.

Origin OS-44

The main difference between their two offerings is the sightlines available. The Origin OS-44 is the slimmest of the pair, which means the sightlines come in at just 44mm. This is the perfect option for anyone creating an expansive ‘glass wall’ effect which remains virtually uninterrupted. It’s a design beloved by those who want to make the most out of the views they have of their outdoor spaces. There are also other benefits of maximising the amount of glass on show, including letting in more natural light, helping rooms feel brighter, bigger and more welcoming.

Origin OS-77

While the Origin OS-77 profile means the sightlines are a little larger, at 77mm, they’re still incredibly slimline. In fact, the OS-44 and the OS-77 are some of the slimmest profiles in the industry for this type of door. This is a good design choice if you love the look of a more traditional patio slider, but without the dated look of bulky frames. Having a little more width to play with can help you achieve a more defined, elegant look for your rooms. While both products have toughened glass installed, OS-77 designs take security features to another level, conforming to the strict PAS 24 standards.

Other Benefits of Origin Sliders

While the sightlines may be different between the two products, there’s plenty of other features they have in common. This includes a range of glass options, a 20-year guarantee and impressive u-values to help your home remain as insulated as possible. Triple glazing will enhance sound insulation even further and boasts a 1.2 u-value (1.8 for double glazing). Both have excellent security features and are made to measure for spaces as small as 1.8 metres and as large as 6.6 metres. You can select all the doors to slide or choose one fixed panel. Stainless steel handles and over 150 RAL colours allow homeowners to create a look they love.
